Tell us a bit about Baker's Hardware.
Bakers Hardware/Power & Turf, established in 1962 by brothers Vernon and Leon Baker, operated as a small family hardware store until 1985, when Vernon’s daughter Teresa and her husband, Bob Ricker, purchased the business from Vernon. Fast forward 59 years to 2021, and Baker’s has grown into one of the East Coast's largest outdoor power equipment dealerships and rental stores, all while keeping its down-to-earth personal service and old-fashioned hardware store appeal.
What sorts of products do you offer your customers, and what makes Baker's Hardware unique?
Baker’s features high-quality brand names such as Husqvarna, Hustler, and Honda power equipment, Traeger, Weber, and Big Green Egg grills, Milwaukee power tools, and Benjamin Moore paint.

How are you preparing for the 2021 Christmas season? What makes the holidays in Southern Delaware special?
The Holidays in Southern Delaware are all about family, friends, and faith. It is the season when all Sussex Countians take time out of the hustle and bustle to spend time with family, renew old friendships, and rejoice in the true meaning of the season.
What has been your experience operating a business in Southern Delaware? What would you tell someone who is considering relocating to our area?
Each day when we open the doors of Baker’s, it seems like a new experience. It is another chance for us to see our neighbors and friends, greet newcomers to the area, and spend the day helping every customer with whatever challenge is facing them today. “It’s the greatest job in town.”
