Since its opening in 1993, The Cultured Pearl has been a culinary favorite in downtown Rehoboth Beach and has established itself as one of Coastal Delaware's premier restaurants. Tell us a bit about The Cultured Pearl.
In 1993, The Cultured Pearl Restaurant first introduced sushi to many living at the Delmarva Beaches. Outstanding service and delicious food have always been the Pearl’s cornerstone, from our humble beginnings on Wilmington Avenue to our current beautiful rooftop garden overlooking Rehoboth Avenue. The owners and long-time Pearl team continue to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our customers.
What sorts of culinary options do you offer your customers, and what makes The Cultured Pearl unique?
The Cultured Pearl has always tried to offer a diverse menu designed to cater not just to sushi lovers but also to their families and friends who come to dine with them. We specialize in traditional Japanese-style sushi and kitchen dishes, and the rest of the Asian menu leans on the flavors of Thailand, Korea, and China. For those craving something closer to home, we offer fantastic steaks, pasta, seafood dishes, and an amazing cream of crab soup! With our daily half-price children’s menus and great happy hour specials, there is always something for everyone at the Pearl!
What has been your experience operating a business in Rehoboth Beach? Is there anything in particular that makes our area special?
The Cultured Pearl and the City of Rehoboth Beach have both undergone many changes in the past 30 years. From the days when there were only a handful of restaurants who dared to try and stay open in the winter to the bustling year-round culinary destination that the area has become, it has truly been an honor to do business in such a wonderful beach town.
What would you tell someone who is considering relocating to Coastal Delaware?
If you want to live in a beautiful community with all the charm of a small beach town, all the culinary advantages of a big city, and the ability to make a day trip to the nation’s capital, the Big Apple, Historic Philadelphia, or the mountains to ski, Coastal Delaware is for you!
